Hester Koning

Hester Alma Koning, age 95, went home to be with her Lord on July 7, 2019. Hester was born September 20, 1923 in Holland, MI, the daughter of Henry and Ada (Boeve) Bonselaar. She was a Kalamazoo area resident since 1936 and was employed with The Upjohn Company, Tepe's and later with the school cafeteria. Hester was a longtime member of Grace Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in Dorcas Society. She had also volunteered with Second Impressions Store. On March 4, 1955, she was united in marriage to John H. Koning, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1994. Hester was also preceded by her parents and siblings Julius Bonselaar, Elmer Bonselaar, Josephine Razenberg, and Wilma Bultje. Surviving are her two children James L. Koning and Lu Ann (Philip) Smith; grandchildren Jodi (Josh) Andrews, Bryan Smith and fiancee Cindy Vera; great-grandchildren Abigail, Greta, Ella, Titus; sister-in-law's Virginia Spitters and Harriet Koning; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 10th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street. The funeral service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, July 11th at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Road, with Pastor Greg Timmer officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
