Helen Louise Paddock went to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2020. Helen was born on August 16, 1935, and she was a lifelong area resident. She was the daughter of Lee and Millie Paddock. Helen attended Westwood Church of God for many years. At 15 she learned to play the organ, appreciating church music all her life. She often played her organ pieces during church offertories. Helen lived on the west side of Kalamazoo in her later years, attending Bible studies at Westland Meadows. She worked at Merrill Residence, did housework for many years, and cared for her elderly parents. Helen joined Second Christian Reformed Church 10 years ago, which became like her second family. She enjoyed her cats (and later her stuffed animals) as her companions. Helen spent much time making scrapbooks and reading mystery books and novels. She knitted sweaters and warm caps which were donated to the Anchor House in Florida, a ministry to sailors supported by her church. We will miss her big blue eyes, her warm smile, her quiet and content personality, and her childlike faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Argyle, and her sister-in-law Wanda. Helen is survived by two nephews. Keith and his family live in Virginia: wife Paula (Outland) and daughters Katrina, Heidi and Christianna Paddock. Craig and his family live in North Carolina: wife Amber (Veverka), son Charlie and daughter Grace Paddock. She is also survived by church friends and her good friend Aggie Vanderkoii. Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
