Surrounded by her loving family, Helen M. Jakubowski, age 84, passed away Friday, January 06, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. Helen was born in Racine, May 10, 1932, daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Nee: Heinrichs) Cook.

She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1951”. In her early years she was a bat girl for the Racine Belles and played on the Racine Belles Junior Team. On August 23, 1952 she was united in marriage to Raymond C. Jakubowski who preceded her in death, March 26, 1983. After raising her children Helen was employed by the Racine Journal Times and lastly at Boston Store for twenty-five years, retiring in 2008. She was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and for the past twenty years a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She had a gift for baking and sewing and enjoyed sharing those gifts with family and friends. Helen also enjoyed “Club” with her St. Cat’s friends. More than anything she loved and cherished time spent with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her six children, Diana (Paul) Ross, Carl (Mary) Jakubowski, Joan (Ramiro) Romo, Margaret “Peggy” (Peter) Georgeson, Adam Jakubowski (Dawn Langlois), Larry (Melissa) Jakubowski; her thirteen grandchildren, Brian Alberth (Galina Emmerich), Joel (Ruth) Alberth, Andy Alberth, Jessica (Arin) Hartwell, Matthew (Melissa) Jakubowski, Danielle (Robert) DeRose, Jossalyn (Billy) Pennington, Tony (Candice) Romo, Vincent (Elise) Georgeson, Paul (Kelly) Georgeson, Alex (Holly) Georgeson, Jared Jakubowski (Hilary), Heath Jakubowski (Chelsey); 18 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Dakota, Brooke, Lana, Rell, Ellie, Hannah, Anya, Scott, Caleb, Emma, Alexis, Hawkins, Rivers, Evelyn, Simone, Charley, and Jameson; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois (Jay) Heller and Carol (Howard) Morin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev William Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at church from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to St. Monica’s Building Fund have been suggested.

A special thank you to the staff at St. Monica’s and to Dr. Neibuhr and staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
