Age 99, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 10th, in Portage, MI. She was born Helen Louise Branch, to John C. and Ruth E. (Garland) Branch, in Grand Rapids, MI. Helen was a 1936 graduate of Godwin Heights High School and Haney Business College in Grand Rapids. Helen worked at several businesses in Grand Rapids, Hartford and Kalamazoo, MI, over the years including Kirchen and Gifford, Brunswick Corp., Russco Windows, and The Junior Miss Shop. She was employed by The Upjohn Company as an Administrative Secretary for 18 years until her retirement, where she made many lifelong friends and was well known for authoring special scrap books for other employees as retirement gifts. Helen was a constant crossword puzzle player, an avid reader and an accomplished creative writer who also enjoyed, volunteering, watching movies and socializing with friends and family. She had a lifelong interest in family history and the study of varying religious and spiritual philosophies Helen is survived by her two sons, Michael R. (Mary) Chapman of Helena, MT and Donald L. (Cindy) Chapman of Vicksburg, MI; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her beloved brother, Jack (Barbara) Branch of Detroit, MI. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Branch and her daughter, Nancy (Dalyn) Hoffman. A Private celebration of Helen's life, with family and friends, will be held at a later date.
