Life Story / Obituary

Heather Lee Thompson, of Vicksburg, passed away in her home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 surrounded by family members, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 22, 1971 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to her mother, Dawn Hickman.

Heather grew up in Wilmot, Indiana, and was a 1989 graduate of West Noble High School, located in Ligonier, IN. Although many years have passed since she lived in Indiana, her friendships there are very treasured. On June 3, 2006 Heather married the love of her life, Todd Thompson. For the past 12 years they have lived with their beloved children, Corbin Thompson, Brianna Wines, Logan Thompson and Christian Wines.

Heather was an amazing mother and wife, was incredibly proud of her children, and cherished their family time. Heather and Todd enjoyed a number of special family vacations. She held her family and friends very close to her heart, and made everyone feel important and loved. One of Heather’s most cherished times was in the evening when she and Todd would sip wine and enjoy the beauty of the lake together on the pontoon. Whether you were a lifelong friend or a brand new neighbor, Heather was warm and inviting to everyone and made them all feel welcome. Her smile, giggle, and love of life was contagious and touched everyone she met. Heather was happiest when she was dancing, partying, planning and enjoying any activities that brought people together with laughter, fun, music, and memories. Heather enjoyed entertaining and planning huge events, including the annual Thompson Trash Volleyball Party, neighborhood golfing events, and our most recent spectacular Fireworks display over Indian Lake, a legacy that will live on in her honor for many years to come. Heather will remain in our hearts and in our minds forever. She truly dusted our world with a little glitter, and a little sparkle wherever she went.

Heather is survived by her husband of 12 years, Todd; four children: Corbin Thompson; Brianna Wines; Logan Thompson; and Christian Wines, of Vicksburg. She is preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Hickman.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August, 31, 2018 at 11am at the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Dave Downs officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10am.

Per Heather’s request, please feel free to wear colorful, joyful clothing for this celebration of life.

Please visit Heather’s webpage where you can read her obituary, sign the guestbook, and share a memory. Those who wish may make contributions to Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene and/or Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis, IN.

The family is being assisted by the McCowen & Secord Family Funeral Home, Rupert-Durham Chapel, 409 S. Main, Vicksburg (269-649-1697).
