Harriet A. Maass, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 06, 2012 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL. Harriet was born on September 20, 1923 in Momence, IL. to Harry and Clara (Bydalek) Christjansen. She married Lester Maass on July 26, 1943 in Hattiesburg, MI. Mrs. Maass worked for the Daily Journal as an Accounts Payable Clerk for 36 years retiring in 1985. Harriet was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bradley, IL. and she enjoyed traveling and reading.
She is survived by her beloved companion John Sullivan of Kankakee, one brother; Maynard Christjansen of Vero Beach, Fl., and one sister; Joanne Manns of Park Forest, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Maass and her parents.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held Friday, June 08, 2012 from 9-11 a.m. followed by Harriet’s funeral service at 11a.m.
Burial will take place at Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Twp.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
