Harold comfortably passed into eternal life on January 25, 2018 at the age of 96. He was born on December 7, 1921 in Eureka, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Edith (Nessier) Stanley; 3 sisters, Alverta, Irene and Delores, and three wives, Mary Jo, Clara, and Mary. After graduation from Fortuna High School in California, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Custer. Harold was a World War II veteran and honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. After his discharge, he stayed in Kalamazoo, and worked at Consumers Power Company until his retirement. He was one of the founders of Consumers Credit Union and president of Consumers Retirees. Harold never passed up the chance to dance and loved to attend as many dances as he could at the Eagles and VFW posts. In his later years, he would dance with the help of a cane. As his mobility declined, he was even seen on the dance floor in his wheelchair spinning around with many of his dance partners. Harold is survived by his 3 children, Michael Stanley of Portage, Diane (Dennis) Anderson of Vicksburg and Darlene Smith of Kalamazoo; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. from 4:00 to 6:00PM Sunday, January 28th where a prayer service will conclude the evening at 6:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church (936 Lake St.) with Monsignor Michael Hazard officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a time of food and fellowship in the church hall. Following the luncheon Harold will be entombed in Mt. Ever-Rest Mausoleum with full military honors. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials in Harold's memory be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or Loaves & Fishes.
