Guyla Bowden

Guyla Bowden, age 72, of Portage, MI passed away at home on Saturday, November 4, 2017, after a 30-year battle with breast cancer. Guyla was born in Kalamazoo on June 19, 1945, the daughter of the late Wesley and Rozella (Prehn) Kolb. She was a graduate of Loy Norrix High School. Guyla enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, scary movies (especially with popcorn with tons of butter) and sweets. She also loved to let everyone know how much her family meant to her and how proud she was of them. In addition to her parents, Guyla was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Benjamin Bowden; son, Brett (Julie) Bowden; daughter, Lisa (Don) Chapman; grandchildren, Zach, Ben and Tayler; as well siblings, Wesley (Merlene) Kolb, Joann Haverkamp, Mary Potts and Linda Merrian. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 6:00 PM at 12th Street Baptist Church, 3911 S. 12th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. A time of visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 12th Street Baptist Church or the .
