Delobel, Gustaaf D. of Kalamazoo Gustaaf passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born on January 23, 1921 in Utrecht, Netherlands, the son of Louis and Marie (VanLoveren) Delobel. Gus was a 1938 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving stateside during World War II from 1942-1945. On May 2, 1943, Gus was united in marriage to Emma Mozell Chapman. He worked as a self-employed watch maker and was a past member of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office Reserve Division. Gus enjoyed old time country music and loved ballroom dancing, especially the waltz. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Conner of Parchment and Carol Luce of Portage; three grandchildren, Karen Conner-Beck, Steven Conner and Amy; two great-grandchildren: Aaron and Brianna; sister: Delores Dean of Portage; special cousins by marriage: Ralph and Shirley Ozmun; special friend: Jo Daggett; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at Comstock VFW and Andrea's Cafe in Galesburg. Preceding him in death were his wife of 61 years: Mozell; brother: Louie Delobel; and sister: Louise Ramer. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM on Sunday, March 12, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Veteran Support Center, Ft. Custer National Cemetery or Kalamazoo Senior Services.
