Gregory Karl Krapf, 65, of Kalamazoo died on Monday, February 20, 2020 at Rose Arbor Hospice in the presence of his loving family. He is the son of William and Mary (Roe) Krapf. He graduated from Comstock High School and served proudly in the U.S. Army with a favorite posting in Germany. He worked for many years at the Disability Network of Southwest Michigan as the "Head Maintenance Engineer". Greg showed an aptitude at an early age for tools. Wood working occupied many pleasurable hours. Besides furniture, he crafted crates of various sizes for many of his friends and family. He enjoyed guiding a niece and nephew in making their own storage crates. He also loved tinkering with cars, doing body work as well as mechanical repairs. Greg especially enjoyed helping other people. He drove those who needed rides to appointments and markets in his venerable pick up truck and helped friends move, some several times. He was very fond of animals and always carried treats in his pocket for his neighbors' dogs. He loved feeding birds as well and took great joy in visiting the "critters" at the zoo. Greg is survived by a son, Jason, a sister, Lynn, brother, Rod (Nancy), niece, Meghan Bonnie (Rob Kresmery) and Sarah Humud (Juan Carlos), a nephew, Nathan (Maire Daly), two great-nephews, and several cousins. His gentle jokes, kindness and affability, even in the wake of many adversities, will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 on Saturday March 7. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 P.M. with a short service at 2:00 P.M followed by refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday, March 9 at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: Binder Park Zoo (binderparkzoo.org), The Kalamazoo Humane Society (kazoohumane.org), or The Disability Network Southwest Michigan (dnswm.org).
