Life Story / Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Richard Daggitt announces his unexpected passing at Bronson Methodist Hospital late Monday night March 19th 2018 surrounded by his wife Gloria and other family members.

Gordon was born to the late Ivan and Mabel Daggitt on October 10th 1937 at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor Michigan he was the second of six children and was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Daggitt. He is survived by his siblings; Jim (Nancy) Daggitt, Wayne Daggitt, Diane (Orin) Miller and JoAnn Johnson.

He attended School in Bangor Michigan and went on to proudly serve his country by enlisting for one tour as a private in the United States Marine Corps and then a second tour as Airman second-class of the United States Air Force.

Gordon had a love of the outdoors that lasted throughout his life, after he married Gloria they spent as much time as they could fishing and camping. While at home he enjoyed doing yard work and working in their garden and flower beds. However it seemed that his greatest joy was playing with his grand and great-grandkids.

Gordon will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Gloria of 16 years and all the members of their Blended families including children: Julie (James) DeYoung of Paw Paw, Richard Daggitt of Decatur, Dainie (Bub) Reeves of Decatur, Jan (Greg) Flint of Paw Paw, Jimmy (Lori) Hester of Lawton, Lorrie Parker-Compton of Decatur, and Tony (Delonia) Parker of Paw Paw. As well as 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial potluck dinner in celebration of Gordon's life will be held March 30th 2018 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Lawton Michigan. Betzler Life Story Funeral Homes, 60900 M-40, Paw Paw, MI 49079
