Gilbert Bernard Shaw

Gilbert Bernard Shaw, age 66, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born in Greensboro, AL, April 30, 1950, son of the late Charlie and Willie (Nee: Merriweather) Shaw. Gilbert was a longtime resident of Pontiac, MI moving to Racine in 2014.

Gilbert was employed many years at General Motors Corp. He enjoyed bowling, cars, hunting and spending time with his friends. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his son, Gilbert Bernard Shaw Jr.; his grandson, Caesar Donovon; siblings, Frank (Freddie) Shaw , Abner (Carolyn) Shaw, Gwendolyn (Rufus) Scott, Jannetter Shaw; sisters-in-law, Bessie Shaw, Lois Shaw, Barbara Shaw; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, William, Riley, Charlie (Freddie) Merriweather, Walter, Fannie Phillips and Audrey Jones.

A Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Edward McClough officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service 10-11 a.m.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Pudzisz, Dr. Bake, Dr. Jay, the 3rd floor nursing staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and his special niece and caregiver Shalanna for all their loving and compassionate care.
