Bushouse , Gertrude "Trudy" 7/11/1927 - 2/26/2019 Kalamazoo Age 91, died on February 26, 2019, after a brief illness. Trudy was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Papierz. She attended Mattawan High School and graduated from Kalamazoo Central Adult Education. Trudy retired from the Upjohn Company after 40 years of employment. On December 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Eugene Bushouse, who died on December 6, 2007 while wintering in Florida. Together, they had one child, Robert Bushouse. Trudy and Gene's favorite times were had at their winter home in Englewood, Florida. She was active with the Red Hat Society and played joyously in the Kazoo Band. Trudy had a long and illustrious career in bowling for more than 30 years. She won the Queens Tournament in the 1970's and was also on the All-Star Bowling Team which she served as its team captain. She was a life-time member of the Elks and Moose Lodges as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church. After retirement, Trudy worked for her son's side business where she helped with filing, billing and the ever-present dogs. She kept busy doing this until the end of 2018. In addition to her parents and husband, Trudy was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Kruzich and Mary Skalski; and brothers, Rudolph, Bernard, Clare, Joseph and Frank Papierz. She is survived by her son, Robert (Laurie) Bushouse; granddaughter, Devon; sisters, Barbara Melvin and Susan Stevens and brother, Dennis Papierz. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, beginning at 6:00 PM, with Fr. Michael Hazard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM, one hour prior to the memorial service.
