Gertrude Peterson

Peterson, Gertrude G. 6/23/1922 - 5/8/2020 Kalamazoo Gert passed away peacefully on May 8, 2020 at the age of 97. She was born June 23, 1922, the daughter of Gerrit and Suzanna (Brieve) VandenBerg. She married Clyde Peterson on February 3, 1943 and together they had 4 children. Clyde passed away in 1986. She later remarried her High School sweetheart, Jake VanLoo in 2006 at the age of 84. Jake passed away in 2009. Gertrude graduated with a degree in business from Parsons and later worked in telecommunications for the Kalamazoo Gazette, Michigan Bell, and WKZO Fetzer Broadcasting. She retired from an administrative position at Western Michigan University at the age of 71. Gertrude enjoyed watching all kinds of seasonal sports, particularly Tiger baseball. She was preceded in death by her son; Roger, and brothers; Ernest and Gordon. Surviving are 3 children: Thomas (Mary), David (Lisa), Susan Kay Peterson and beloved Grand Dog "Cayman". Also surviving are five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A private family service will be held.
