Gerard “Gare” Roseboom, age 90, of Kalamazoo passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on April 14, 2018 at his home. Gare was born on June 28, 1927 to Petrus and Mary Roseboom. Visit with his family and friends for a memorial gathering on Monday April 23 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Life Story Funeral Home, Portage; 5975 Lovers Lane (269-344-5600). Gare is survived by two of his children; Garry (Lucienne) Roseboom and Mary (Roger) Klinedinst; seven grandchildren: Christopher Roseboom, Jennifer Jarzambek, Amber Carrasco, Joshua Roseboom, Donovan Roseboom, Benjamin Roseboom, and Kali Roseboom; one sister Thelma Williams as well as 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Petrus Roseboom and Mary Roseboom Skinner, his wife Betty Roseboom, his son Gregory Roseboom and his brothers Henry, Herbert, Johnny and Pete Roseboom. Gare served proudly in the United States Navy at the end of World War II and had a long successful career at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital, where he retired from in 1984. Gare enjoyed all motor vehicle activities including motorcycling, snowmobiling, racing and boating. Many happy memories were made on the banks of the St. Joseph River with family friends and in the woods of Baldwin, Michigan.
