Surrounded by his family, Gerald Victor Seitz, “Jerry”, age 86, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was born in Racine August 30, 1931, son of the late Al J. and Cecelia (Nee: Kupper) Seitz.

Jerry attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1950”. Following school, he proudly served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. On August 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara J. Sewell. Jerry was a carpenter by trade, retiring from Camosy Construction Company as a well-respected job superintendent; many large commercial buildings in Wisconsin and Illinois have a bit of Jerry Seitz in them. He was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and had an unwavering faith in the Lord. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, sailing, and spending time with his family at his cottage up north. After retirement, he found joy in woodworking, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, and planning the next cottage “project”. Above all, Jerry treasured spending time with his family, especially time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughters, Tracy Wiklund (Jack Sorenson), Julie (Greg) Sokol; grandchildren, Erik Wiklund (Leslie Olson), Emma, Hanna, Jacob, Lucas, and Matthew Sokol; his brother, Thomas (Sandy) Seitz of TX; in-laws, Margaret Seitz, Frederick (June) Sewell, David (Mary) Sewell, Robert (Diane) Sewell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Robert (Lorraine) Seitz and Charles Seitz, and a brother-in-law, James Sewell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., Thursday, May 3, 2018, 11:00 A.M. with Father Yamid Blanco officiating. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet at church Thursday prior to the Mass 9:30–11:00 A.M. Memorials to Grace Hospice, the Alzheimers Assn or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Jerry’s Grace Hospice team, Angela, Sheila, Kim, Angel, and Keith for their loving and compassionate care.
