Schwemmin, Gerald Carl 9/29/1929 - 9/11/2018 Sarasota, Florida It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald C. Schwemmin (Sarasota, Florida) announces his passing, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the age of 88 years. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Savage Schwemmin (1932-2013). He will be lovingly remembered by his children Nancy S. Schwemmin, Thomas W. Schwemmin (Cynthia) and Mary K. Schwemmin. Papa will be forever remembered by his grand daughters, Lindsey J. Schwemmin, Haley A. Schwemmin and Elizabeth W. Schwemmin. Gerald was born to Carl and Erma (Moehn) Schwemmin on September 29, 1929 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School, Michigan State University (B.S. Business), Wayne State University (M.B.A.) and later earned his C.P.A. (Certified Public Accounting). During the Korean War, Gerald served with the U.S. Army in the Counter Intelligence Corps (C.I.C.) serving as a Special Agent. He retired from Western Michigan University (WMU) as the University Controller of Business and Finance after working for the university for 25 years. Gerald and his wife Barbara then enjoyed their retirement years while traveling between their homes in Sarasota, Florida and Chelsea, Michigan (Crooked Lake).
