Gerald "Jerry" Robert Blomquist, 81, of Traverse City, formerly of Belleville, died at home, Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015. Jerry was born October 2, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Anfred and Nellie (Caffey) Blomquist. He graduated from Redford High School and then Michigan State University in 1957 with a degree in economics.

Jerry was in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked at Chevrolet Gear and Axle and the Detroit Renaissance Center as the Parking Director.

Jerry was a devoted husband and father who loved being with his family, enjoyed wood working, classical music, reading history books and making Christmas puzzles. Jerry always had a smile and looked on the bright side. He helped others when he could and had a calm reassuring personality. He will be missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diane Blomquist; daughter, Kimberly Stahl; step-daughters, Sheila (Matthew) Toler and Leslie (Scott) Jozwiak; grand-daughters, Whitney Stahl, Sophia & Emily Jozwiak; nieces and nephews, Kit (Ben) Marchlewicz, Gail (John) Blubaugh, Wes (Kelly) Miller, Tom (Tricia) Irwin, Paul (Diane) Irwin and Nancy (Toby) Wahlrade, Kristen (Shawn) O'Neill, Michael (Olga) Patrick and Ryan Patrick; sister-in-law, Julianne Patrick; brothers-in-law, George Gliga and Hoit Miller.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Blomquist; sisters, Jean Blomquist, Catherine Irwin, Dorothy Miller and brother-in-law, Jack Irwin.
