George O'Bryan

George E. O'Bryan, age 91, of Portage, MI passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. George was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 29, 1926; the son of the late James M. and Anna M. (Sims) O'Bryan. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of WWII, having served on Guam and Iwo Jima. George retired from National Waterlift. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret (Chuck) Davis and Martine (Don) Stoops. On August 9, 1950, George married the former Mamie Ethel Jeffers, who survives. He is also survived by his sons, Mark (Joan) and Michael O'Bryan; daughter, Carol Ann Bolin; grandchildren, Amy (Sean) Hayes, Luke O'Bryan, Kristine (James) Miller and Whitney and Olivia Bolin; great-grandson, L.J. Miller; sister, Donna (Ron) Holmes and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place in the chapel at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49024, on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 4:00 PM. Interment with military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o the Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home.
