SCHALK, FREDRICA ANN On Friday, March 1, 2019, Fredrica Ann Schalk, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 86, in Sarasota, Fl. Fredde was born March 8, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Clifford and Evelyn Eslick. She grew up in Mason City, IA, receiving her BA in journalism from the University of Iowa. She married Thomas Schalk in 1954. For over 30 years, they resided in Kalamazoo, MI., where they raised their three children. Fredde was an avid (and formidable) bridge player until the end of her life. A loyal Kappa Kappa Gamma alumna, she enjoyed volunteer work, reading, piano, tennis, cooking and travel. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Tom, and son, Christopher. She is survived by her children, Sally Schalk, Brad Schalk (Maureen), her grandchildren, Thomas Kaminsky (Jessica), Anne Marie Guidarelli (Sam), Stephen Kaminsky, Bradley Schalk, Samantha Schalk, great grandchildren, Jonathan Kaminsky, Sawyer Guidarelli and step grandchild, Olivia Serrano. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service is planned. Memorials may be made to Tidewell Hospice for the hospice house acute care program, Sarasota, FL.
