Nelson, Frederick W. 11/22/1949 - 6/7/2022 Port Isabel Texas Fred (Fritz) Nelson, Port Isabel, TX passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, June 7, 2022. Cremation has taken place. Fritz was born in Allegan, MI on November 22,1949 to Fred and Jean Nelson, who proceeded him in death. He attended West Ward Elementary and Allegan Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1968. He attended Ferris State College (University) in Big Rapids, MI where he attained his Pharmacist degree in 1973. Fritz began his pharmacy career in 1974, opening Fred's Pharmacy in Schoolcraft MI. He then opened Fred's Pharmacy in Three Rivers Mi with his brother-in-law and father and then Fred's Pharmacy of Vicksburg, when JoDee and Fritz moved there. In his leisure time, Fritz loved flying his airplane. He and JoDee enjoyed traveling the country in jaunts to their favorite restaurants and shopping spots! Fritz was a member of the Schoolcraft Lions Club and even served as president one year. He had served on various boards and groups. He also loved to help sponsor the local teams and functions. They built their forever home in Long Island Village, Port Isabel Texas and became in full time Texas Residents in 2016, where they have enjoyed activites with their many friends and neighbors. Whenever Fritz was around, it was a great party. Fritz called his many dogs "his boys" and loved them all dearly. Murray his Sheltie is missing his dad very much. Fritz is survivied by his wife JoDee, of the home. He is also survived by his daughters, Dr. Jennifer (Ryan) Foster of Mattawan MI, Sarah (Pete) Gazi of Paw Paw MI, Emily (Michael) Pope of Marcellus MI, his stepson Aaron (Maria) Bell of Alto MI and his step daughter Amy Glenn, MSN, AGNP-BC, RN of Blacklick OH. His grandchildren Savannah, Spencer, Scarlett Foster, Emily, Evelyn Gazi, Anna Pope, James and Junior Harper. Fritz is also survivied by his sister Carol (Joe) Wuis of Allgean, his mother-in-law Judi McNett of Vicksburg, his father-in-law Jack (Dolores) McNett of Port Isabel TX brother-in-law Jack (Darla) McNett of Vicksburg sister-in-law Jill McNett (Tom) of Manchester MI many nieces, nephew and cousins. A Celebration of Fritz's life will be held at the Vicksburg United Methodist Church on July 9 at 2pm. A luncheon will follow. A planned 30th wedding anniversary party will now become a Celebration of Fritz's Life on Sunday August 28th in Long Island Village. In lieu of flowers, the family suggessts donations to the Vicksburg United Methodist Church, Vicksburg MI, the ONETWO Church in SPI, TX or a NO-KILL Shelter of your choice. Fritz lived his life to the fullest, enjoying it all no matter what health conditions came his way. Fritz believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, so we know that we will see him again someday!
