Frank Olson

Frank Gerald Olson, 75 of Grawn, died Saturday, December 26, 2015.

He was born on June 17, 1940 in Traverse City the son of Edward L. and Dorothy L. (Courtad) Olson.

Frank retired as a Captain Firefighter with the City of Traverse City in 1993 after 25 years. He had also been the Interim Chief and Fire Inspector. Frank previously worked with BATA as a health Ride Driver of 11 years and while living in Cleveland he worked for 7 years with General Motors.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, camping and most outdoor activities. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee (Brown) Olson, they were married on March 3, 1962 in Ohio; children, Teresa (Brian) Amato, Matthew Olson and Douglas (Tracy) Olson of Traverse City, Phillip ( Cheryl) Olson and Timothy (Kim) Olson of Grawn; grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, Rachel, Michael, Benjamin, Ryan, Heather, Alex and Grace; great-grandchildren, Erin, Nikolas, Haley, Sophie, Serena, Juliana, Maryn and Maijanna; siblings, James Olson, William (Rose) Olson, Ann (Richard) Schaub, Robert (Vivian) Olson, and Mary (Tom) Anderson all of Traverse City and Arthur (Marcia) Olson of Mesick and sister-in-law, Jane Olson of Traverse City.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Olson; nephew, Dale Olson; niece, Cindy Olson and sister-in-law, Wilma Olson.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00 am.
