Frances Barnes

Frances Elizabeth Barnes, born March 1st, 1931, Kalamazoo, MI. She was raised by her paternal grandmother and uncle Joe Salamun. She died on November 29th, 2017. She was 86 years old. She was cared for at home by her daughters. Fran attended St. Augustine's Catholic School in Kalamazoo. After graduation, while working for the Up-John Company, she met Jack Barnes, a graduate of Kalamazoo College. They married at St. Joseph's Church and moved to Erie, PA. There, together, they had five children. Debra Barnes Beucler (children Ty and Will), Janice Surian (Nicole) and four children, David Barnes (Michelle), Colleen Nustad (husband Brian, son Dru), and Cathleen Barnes (Clayton and Sophie). Fran also has a sister-in-law and nephew in Erie, PA, Betty Grappy and Steve Grappy and three nephews on the East Coast (with families): Mike Delo (Vicky), Jerry Delo (Esther), and Jeff Delo (Donna). Fran also leaves behind many lost friends and relatives in Kalamazoo. Fran and Jack settled in Minnetonka, MN, and eventually in Chanhassen, where they built their home and business. Fran loved her family, friends, home, the sunshine, walking, and travelling to Arizona and Mexico. Fran and Jack together enjoyed many fine years out at the Riviera Supper Club, and later, at the Chanhassen American Legion. They had many friends there. Frances was a strong wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will live on in our hearts forever. Her husband Jack and son David met her in Heaven.
