Floyd Bernard Jackson was born on October 26, 1935 in Wayland, Michigan. He died at the age of 82 on September 7, 2018, after dealing with Parkinson's disease for 12 years. Floyd had three great loves in his life, his God, his wife, and his music. He remained faithful to all three until his death. Floyd married Linda Ann Pike on July 24, 1954. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 31, 1954. Together, he and his wife Linda served their god Jehovah God for 64 years and touched the lives of many, many people. Floyd's sense of humor, combined with his many talents, defined the man that his family and friends knew and loved. He used his musical talent to praise Jehovah, and he continued to play the piano even during the last few weeks of his life. Floyd is survived by his wife Linda; his sons Scott (Carla), Kraig, and Eric (Cheryl); his grandson Gregory (Monica); and great grandchildren, Alexis, Mariah, Hailey, and Izayah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Grace; brothers, Wesley, Andrew, Ted, and Harrison, Jr.; and his daughter-in-law Linda. The family wishes to extend thanks to the following: The staff of the Rediscovery Lofts Unit at Vista Springs Assisted Living, who provided Floyd with excellent care is the last few weeks; Stephanie, Steve, Dr. Jeffrey VanWingen and all the others of Heartland Hospice who attended to Floyd's medical needs for the past 6+ months; and Michele, Scott and others of HomeWatch Caregivers, who assisted Floyd when he was at home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Godwin Heights High School Auditorium, 50 35th Street SW, Wyoming, MI. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a one-hour visitation with the family before the memorial service. Cremains will be interned at the Germond Cemetery in Wayland Township at a later date.
