Florence White

White, Florence L. Kalamazoo, MI Florence Louise White passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019. She was born October 26, 1920 at home in Kalamazoo, a daughter of Clarence and Cora (Wagner) Gleason. Florence attended Millwood Elementary and Millwood Junior High School and graduated from State High School in 1938. Florence maintained lifelong friendships with her high school classmates. Florence also attended Kalamazoo College. Surviving are her four children, David R. Warren of Raleigh, N.C., Christine Porter of Phoenix, Arizona, Stephen (Lynn) Warren of Prairie Village, Kansas and Kathryn (Gene) Porterfield of Hoover, Alabama; four grandchildren; Greg Warren, Brian Warren, Andrew Haan and Kathie Hoffmann; five great-grandchildren; Alex, Leighton, Aidan, Gerrit and Alden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James C. White; sister, Barbara Somers; brother, William Gleason; and former husband, Robert S, Warren. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11am Monday, March 11th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where services will begin at 11am with Rev. Dr. John M. Best officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Portage South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Pine Island Presbyterian Church.
