Evelyn Wenke

Wenke, Evelyn K. "Evie" Plainwell Went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2021 at her home. Evie was born June 9, 1946 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Ebel and Henrietta (Weessies) Mulder and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Prior to her retirement she was very involved in the daily operations of Wenke Flooring, which was established in 1976. Evie was an active member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church and quite involved with Second Impressions. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also treasured her time spent up north at their cottage in St. Ignace. On February 4, 1966 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Jack Wenke who survives. Also surviving are her sons, Craig (Deb) Wenke, Mark (Rita) Wenke; grandchildren, Austin (Nicole), Carter (Sydney), Carlos (Cassidi), Jared (Jordan), Logan (Matthew); sisters in law, Jeanne Mulder, Sheryl (Doug) Stapert; and several nieces and nephews. Evie was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Bennett Mulder, Grace Scott, Jean Dykstra, and Peter Mulder. Private visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A private family graveside will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest North Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 21 at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 South 11th Street with Pastor Simon Tuin officiating. Due to Covid-19 and CDC guidelines, numbers will be limited at the church and masks will be required. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools.
