Ethel E. Hoppe, age 92 passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was born in Racine, December 28, 1924 daughter of the late Leo and Olga (Nee: Kaschinske) Robinson.

A love story began as a passenger on the city bus, Ethel, met her husband to be, the bus driver, Clarence Hoppe and they were united in marriage on April 11, 1964. She was a waitress at Woolworth’s Dime Store Lunch Counter for a number of years and was last employed as a ward clerk at St. Luke’s Hospital for 24 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts, and certainly proud of her Native American background she made beautiful Indian jewelry.

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce (Warren) Bergman, Susan Anderson, grandchildren: Renee Bouwma, Tracy (Steve) Drews, Dominic (Candice) Anzalone, Andrea Anzalone and Hanne Anderson; great-grandchildren, Chris and Chelsea Drews, Noah and Domenica and Naviyah Anzalone; great-great-grandson, Gabriel McGray; sister, Gladys Burdick; brother, Chet Robinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; two sisters, Helen, Caroline; and five brothers, Oscar, Bill, Bob, George, and Ed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Lambert officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the Diabetes Foundation have been suggested.
