Ernest Scott Jr., known as Scott by his friends, died on June 20, 2018 of complications from a traumatic brain injury he suffered on June 12, 2009. Scott was born July 15, 1988 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Nancy and Ernest Scott Sr. Following his graduation from Pioneer High School in 2006, Scott attended Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina. In 2018 Scott earned a certificate in Computer Systems Technology at Washtenaw Community College. Scott brought light, love and compassion to the world. His philosophy was "Know thyself. Learn something interesting. Sing songs and shape the earth with your hands. Never feel pity instead of sympathy and empathy. Plants seeds, passing your knowledge and possessions and skills on to others. Don't do things you'll regret. Be inspired and take risks at unorthodox times." He lived these ideas every day. Scott is survived by his father, Ernest Scott Sr. of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his mother, Nancy Gold of Marquette, Michigan; brother Fred Scott (Sue) of Hermitage, Tennessee; sister Michelle (Bill) Hutchison of Kalamazoo; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Loki" Scott of Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandparents Stanley and Florence Gold of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Williamsville, New York; grandmother Ruth Zehring of Crown Point, Indiana; and his aunt, Susan Gold of Lansing, Michigan. The family would like to give special thanks to the people at Eisenhower Center for the excellent care and attention Scott received there and also to Kristy Ashton, for everything she did for Scott and his family. Arrangements are entrusted to Nie Funeral Home. More information, photos, tributes and such are available at http://www.niefuneralhomes.com/obituaries/. In lieu of flowers, we request memorial contributions be made to the Brain Injury Association of Michigan or the charity of your choice.
