Haynes, Elizabeth "Betty" Cooper Twp., Michigan Elizabeth A. Haynes, age 87 of Cooper Township, died at home on November 13, 2022. She was born on November 19, 1934, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Toth) Csiszar. Her parents came from Hungary and met and married in Kalamazoo. Betty was born and raised in an ethnic neighborhood, with many happy memories of family and friends. She was always very proud of her Hungarian heritage. Betty graduated from Central High School in 1952. Following high school, she worked at Fuller Mfg. Co. as a clerk typist. Later in life, she worked for Gernaat's Greenhouse and as a greeter at the Gull Road Meijer for 14 years. On May 14, 1955, she married Richard Haynes, after he had served in the Armed Forces. They bought their first home in November of 1956 and lived there all their lives, raising two sons and a daughter there. The family shared many fun times together camping at Lake Michigan. Betty enjoyed reading, watching Turner classic movies, getting together with long time neighborhood girlfriends, lunches and playing cards. Gathering with current friends was a special time as well, whether it was the neighborhood ladies, Meijer friends, or the Hungarian ladies' group. She was a member of the former Hungarian Reformed Church and served on the consistory board, served as treasurer, and was a member of the Lorantiffy Ladies's Aid. Her family includes her cherished children: Richard Haynes (Peg Corbin), Terry (Laura) Haynes, and Beth (Jerry) Ryan; her grandchildren: Jacob Haynes and his mother June Haynes Maurer, Jeremy (Tia) Ryan, Joshua (Maddi) Ryan, and Mathew Corbin; her brother, Albert (Darlene) Csiszar; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on October 27, 2008, brother Paul (Phyllis) Csiszar and her sister Margaret Medgysi. Friends and family may gather for her memorial service on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 12:00 PM, Noon, at St. Andrew Community Church, 3631 Covington Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, with Rev. James Dyke officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to the St. Andrew Community Church.
