Ellie graduated from Wheelock College, Boston, MA, and also attended Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, Class of 1962. On August 27, 1939 at St. Peter's Church, Bennington, VT, she was united in marriage to Col. John B. Scott who preceded her in death on May 27, 1995.

In her 22 years as the wife of a serviceman, Ellie had an interesting and adventurous life while living in Austria, Italy, Japan and many places in the United States. During World War II she worked as the secretary of the draft board in Bennington, later served as a Gray Lady in Army Hospitals for several years as a staff aide in the Macomb Chapter, Detroit, MI, and was among the first Army wives to arrive in Tokyo at the end of World War II. She and her husband moved to Racine in 1965 and they made many dear friends whom they met here. Ellie was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Women's Club, Symphony Guild, Dairyland Theatre Organ Society and Wheelock Alumni Association.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Rickert. She is survived by many dear friends and her brother-in-law, Ken Scott of CA.
