Elaine Pfuhl

Elaine M. Pfuhl, 89, of Traverse City died Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She was born on April 1, 1926 in Lansing the daughter of Arthur C., and Edna M. (Wiltse) Converse.

Elaine graduated from Everett High School in Lansing. She attended the Wilde Conservatory of Music in Lansing playing the violin and piano. She worked and studied at Michigan State University and was a lifelong fan. Go Green!!

Elaine married Edward C Pfuhl, Jr. June 28, 1946 in Lansing. Edward and Elaine moved to Traverse City in 1951, where she worked for the State of Michigan.

Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered with community organizations including the Traverse City Senior Center preparing tax returns.

Elaine loved reading, music, gardening, and the beautiful area she lived.

Elaine is survived by her daughters, Merry (Daniel) MacGirr and Marsha (William) Nemetz both of Traverse City, grandchildren, Matthew (Mary) Taylor of Detroit, Andrew (Megan) Taylor of Traverse City, George Nemetz of Traverse City, Emily Nemetz, Allison (Alex) Nemetz Schajter, Douglas Nemetz, Cassondra MacGirr (Kenneth Hamilton) and Lukas MacGirr all of Traverse City, great grandchildren Angela, Andrew, Kieran and Olivia.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She expanded this love to include her “adopted” grandchildren; the children of the staff at French Manor Senior Living. She enjoyed rocking the babies, reading books, and helping to play video games when the children would visit. They always brightened her day.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter, Margaret Pfuhl Taylor, and sister, Virginia Gaus.

The family will greet friends from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thurs, October 15, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with a gathering 1 hour prior.
