Elaine Ludwig

Ludwig, Elaine L. Of Kalamazoo, MI Elaine V. Ludwig left this earth and went home to be with her Lord on April 11, 2020. Elaine was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 26, 1923 to Rev. Lloyd S. and Carrie (Gallman) Scheifele. Being a preacher's kid, she moved several times during her childhood. In 1941, on the day she graduated from Blissfield High School, she moved with her parents to Kalamazoo, where she met her future husband, Robert E. Ludwig. They were married on January 7, 1946 and spent nearly 54 years together until his passing on January 4, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Hilda Scheifele. Elaine spent her time helping to raise her family and serving as a volunteer in both her church and community. She served on the Board of Directors for both the Salvation Army and Michigan Children's Aid. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church. Surviving are four daughters: Diane Damitio of Austin, TX, Marty (Rick) Laux and Judy (Dave) Simsick all of Portage, Laurie (Tom) Pickard of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren: Michael (Lisa) Damitio, Amy (Kevin) Kehoe, Maria (David) Bader, Jodi (Ryan) Johnson, Beth (Brad) Peuler, Greg Laux, Brian (Morgan) Simsick, Kevin (Amy) Simsick, Julie (Justin) Rittenhouse, Andrew (Laura) Pickard, Lisa Pickard; 21 great-grandchildren. Private family graveside service will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorials in Elaine's memory may be directed to Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Salvation Army, or Kalamazoo Youth for Christ.
