Life Story / Obituary

Elaine Mae Isaacson, 59, passed away at her home on Oct. 9 at 7:09 a.m. surrounded by her loved ones. Elaine fought a courageous 35-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

She was a born in Traverse City to Alfreda and Don Russell and grew up on a cherry farm. She attended Traverse City Central High School and graduated in 1974.

She became a chiropractic assistant shortly after taking courses at Northwestern Michigan College.

In 1975 she met her future husband, Jon, married in 1978, then her most beloved son, Matthew, was born in 1979. As a family we enjoyed living the American Dream on Spider Lake, where Elaine’s spirit will forever live on.

If you had the great opportunity of knowing Elaine, her charming, positive, upbeat attitude and character was never impinged upon by the MS. Jackie, her dedicated care giver of almost nine years, would testify to her strength and perseverance, that she would beat the disease and never let it win! Elaine made everyone proud, she created an instant awareness of how lucky we all were, even in times of hardship and strife she would share an amazing smile to comfort those around. She will be forever in our hearts and minds.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 21311 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076.

A memorial service will be announced in the spring or summer of 2016.
