Passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Bloomingdale, Michigan. Elaine was born on February 5th, 1928 in Maywood, Illinois, the daughter of John and Laura (Snyder) LaVine, and has lived in Bloomingdale most of her life, spending her early years in Illinois. Elaine was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where she was an elder for many years. She enjoyed spending time bowling, golfing, fishing and her favorite was teaching people how to swim. She got the most joy in life by having friends and her family with her at the lake. She served her community by being a volunteer for Pinedale Ambulance. Surviving are her daughter Laura (Ernie) McCoy, daughter-in-law Nancy; grandchildren, Kristy (Dan) Payne; Kim (Brian Haley) Munn; Heather (Charles) Terpstra; great grandchildren, Sammy, Kylie, Laura, Kaelynn, Treyden and Draven and many nieces and nephews; a sister Jackie Collins; and special friends Barb Fox and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, a son, Bill, grandson Billy and many brothers and sisters. The family will meet friends from 11-1:30 on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home with services following at 1:30 pm, Pastor Bill Napp officiating. Burial will follow in Baseline Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church.
