Edwin Willie

Willie, Edwin J. Kalamazoo Age 92, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Ed was born in Kalamazoo on August 2, 1925, the son of the late Samuel R. and Frieda (Korzilius) Willie. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Ed worked for Kroger Grocery, prior to 25 years of employment for the Upjohn Company. He appreciated the simplicities of life and his family was always at the center of his world. He loved spending time at his home on Indian Lake in Vicksburg and traveling to Florida during the winter. Ed was an avid coin and stamp collector and enjoyed golfing and fishing. On April 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Beverly J. Terburg, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Edwin (Cheryl) Willie, Debra (Chuck) Mann, Sandra (Tim Nederveld) Willie and John (Jennifer) Willie; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Johnston and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, Al and Richard and sisters, Benita and Doris. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 933 Charlotte Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49048, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Very Reverend James Richardson celebrant. A time of visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday, July 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM (those planning to attend should meet at the funeral assembly area of the cemetery by 10:15 AM).
