Edward Holthof

Passed away Friday evening, August 31, 2018 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Ed was born March 22, 1936 in Orland Park, IL the son of the late Egbert and Alice (Busscher) Holthof. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 34 years with General Motors as a tool and die maker and was the owner of Shorty's Bar. After retirement he worked for the YMCA for several years. Ed was an avid bowler and world traveler. He enjoyed boating and going on cruises. On September 12, 1959 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Redenius) who survives. Ed is also survived by his daughters, Sherri Holthof, Brenda (Mel) Foster; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Marry Ann) Holthof, Henrietta (Basil) Smith, Evelyn (Robert) Bailey, Carol (Larry) Phillips, Valarie Rollins; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Annette Wery and Ann Adkin. He was also preceded in death by his much-loved cat, Cosmo. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
