Life Story / Obituary
Dru Ellen Keene (Ostrowski) died Monday, October 20, 2014 in Traverse City, Michigan, from complications of the disease Spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA1).
Dru was born on April 8, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Richard Bernard and Marilyn Josephine (Brown) Ostrowski.
She attended Traverse City Saint Francis and graduated in 1980 from Traverse City Senior High.
She also graduated from North Lake Community College, Dallas Texas.
Dru was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed employment positions in the construction and medical industries. Her last position was at the Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital. Dru loved to entertain family on their birthdays and during the holidays.
Dru is survived by her husband, Bryan R. Keene; they were married in 1985; children, Peter C. Keene, Emily C. Keene, Bridget C. Keene and Christopher B. Keene; mother, Marilyn Ostrowski; siblings, Pam (Charles) Lerchen, Chris (Denise) Ostrowski, Peter Ostrowski, Martin (Barbara) Ostrowski, and twins, Allison (Jason) Desroches and Amy (Ben) Rollins.
The family would like to thank Dru's in home caregivers, Patricia Pickard and Stacey Howe for the great care they gave her and how they became part of our family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Ostrowski.
A celebration of Dru's life will be held 10:00am, Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Harbor Light Christian Center with Rev. Peter J. Moon officiating with a luncheon to follow.
