Dr. Patrick Millar Littlejohn died peacefully in Keinton Mandeville, Somerton, England on the 25th of January, 2017 at the age of 91. Dr. Littlejohn was born on the 30th of June, 1925 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Frederick Millar Littlejohn and Gertrude Sarah Chapman. Dr. Littlejohn is survived by his four children; Iain Littlejohn (Luchy) of San Antonio, Texas; Robyn Duncan (Darrell) of Oak Brook, Illinois; Elizabeth Krystyniak (Robert) of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, and Douglas Littlejohn (Becky) of Hudson, Ohio. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Derek Duncan, Carly Krystyniak and Patrick Krystyniak. In addition he is survived by the Goodall Family of Keinton Mandeville, Somerton, England who provided loving care to Patrick during his time of great need. The Littlejohn Family will be forever grateful for their care to him. Dr. Littlejohn attended the University of Edinburgh and graduated in 1947 with an MB (Bachelor of Medicine) and CHB (Bachelor of Surgery). Following his graduation from medical school, Patrick was employed at Princess Alice Hospital in Eastbourne, England as a General Practioner. It was there that he met a nurse by the name of Patricia Clayton whom he married in 1949. After working at Princess Alice Hospital, Patrick joined the Australian Navy as a Medical Officer in 1950. Patricia accompanied him to Australia. At the end of his military tour, he and Patricia returned to England where he continued to practice medicine. In 1955, they emigrated to St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and he continued his medical career. In 1962, he moved to Euclid, Ohio. Patrick specialized in Anesthesiology at Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Once his training was completed in 1964, Patrick, Patricia and their four children moved and settled in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Once in Kalamazoo, he worked at Borgess Hospital, as well as at Bronson Medical Center. Patrick and three other physicians founded Kalamazoo Anesthesiology PC., which was one of the first medical corporations in Michigan and is still in existence today. He was devoted to his profession and widely respected in the medical community. Patrick retired from medicine in 1998 and moved to Betws Garmon, Wales and was wed to Doreen Goodall. He and Doreen lived a quiet but full life residing in Yr Hen Ysgol (the Old School) nestled in the hills of the Welsh countryside. Patrick was loved by many and will be remembered for being kind and gentle. He was extremely generous and always gave to others in all walks of life. He was a captivating storyteller and enjoyed sharing stories of his many life experiences. He was an avid traveler even in his later years. Other passions included golf, playing and watching tennis, hiking the hills of North Wales, reading and puttering in the garden. A celebration of Patrick's life will be held at: St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 247 West Lovell St., Kalamazoo, on Thursday, July 27th, 2017, at 5:30pm.
