Dorothy E. Kerschke, age 91, of Bradley, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at home. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1922 to Edward and Gertrude (Waldowski) Yeadicke, Sr. in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Walther Memorial School of Nursing in Chicago with a Diploma Degree in Nursing. She proudly served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant Registered Nurse from 1944 until 1946. She married Elroy Kerschke on October 11, 1947 in Chicago. Elroy died in 2004. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for 20 years before her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Kankakee American Legion and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bradley. She enjoyed volunteering at church.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Dennis (Joan) Kerschke of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Jolene (Kevin) Kreher of Bradley and Carol (Terry) Chinn of Bourbonnais; four grandchildren, James (Nadia) Kerschke of Waukee, IA, Dale Kerschke of Waukee, IA, Austin Chinn of Bourbonnais, IL and Natalie Chinn of Bourbonnais, IL; one great-grandson, Matthew Kerschke; one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Kerschke; four nieces, Eunice (Steve) Ruddy of St. Augustine, FL., Judy (Lonnie) Martens of The Villages, FL, Tami (Gerry) Wagner of Herscher and Loree (Matt) Yoakum of Kankakee and one nephew, Randy (Marsha) Kerschke of Limestone. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elroy and her brother, Edward Yeadicke, Jr.

A gathering time for friends and family will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home’s Bourbonnais Chapel. Another gathering time will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Dorothy’s funeral service at 10:00 a.m., also at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home’s Bourbonnais Chapel. Pastor Patty Heath will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Kankakaee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley and/or Presence St. Mary’s Hospital.
