Dorothy Baird

Dorothy J. (Gower) (Reed) Baird, age 88, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Friday February 2, 2018 at her home. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on February 4, 1929 to the late Joseph and Lillian (Pierce) Gower. She was married to Clyde Baird on February 2, 1967 and he preceded her in death in October of 1968. Shortly after being widowed, Dorothy started an interior decorating business operating from her home specializing in custom window treatments. After over 40 years in business she retired at the age of 82. Surviving are her four children: Pamela (Robert) Camfield of Madison WI, Lawrence (Charmaine) Reed, Keith (Catherine) Reed and Joseph (Kelly) Baird all of Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren: Leslie Camfield, Tara (Richard Schick) Camfield, Emily (Dick Bauhs) Camfield, Scott (Emily) Reed, Phillip (Amy) Reed, Kimmy (Bill) Myers, Andrew Reed, Celeste Baird and Michaela Baird; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also preceding her in death were two sisters: Mary Jane Swetnam and Dixie Iglehart. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring at Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery. Date to be announced. Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
