Doris Johnson

Kalamazoo, MI and Boynton Beach, FL Doris passed away Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018 in Cape Girardeau, MO. Born May 21, 1927 in Kalamazoo, she was the daughter of the late Mirl Drake and Nora (Hutchison) Drake. On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Johnson in Kalamazoo. William preceded her in death on December 28, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Marcena Stull in 2010. For several years, Doris worked part time at the Oshtemo Public Library. Family came first for Doris. She was a gentle and caring person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She was a member of the Westwood United Methodist Church for many years. She is survived by her four children; Roger (Carolyn) Johnson of Washington, DC, Eric Johnson (Dan Gajeski) of Kalamazoo, Todd (Monica) Johnson of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Mark (Susan) Johnson of Westerville, OH. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; one sister, Ann Schreiber of Boynton Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, she has been cremated and will be buried with her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
