Dora E. "Dorothy" DeYoung, age 94, of Kalamazoo, MI went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, August 29, 2017 at her home. Dorothy was born April 13, 1923 in New Era, MI the daughter of the late Bert and Fanny (Postma) VanAndel. Prior to her retirement she worked for several years as a realtor with C. David Howard. Dorothy was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed traveling, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending several winters in Spain. On August 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Frederick L. DeYoung who preceded her in death on May 22, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Eileen Wiersma; great grand-daughter, Lucille; and 10 brothers and sisters. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Fred J. (Nancy) DeYoung, Wayne (Sandra) DeYoung, Bert (Carol) DeYoung, Paul (Anita) DeYoung; son-in-law, Mark Wiersma; grandchildren, Fred S. DeYoung, Rhonda (Joel) Lubben, James (Lisa) DeYoung, Tim (Paola) DeYoung, Pamela (Antrone) Williams, David (Kristin) DeYoung, Sara DeYoung (John Terpstra) Holly (Jeff) Krosschell, Joseph (Sarah) DeYoung, Daniel (Jenna) Wiersma, Andrew (Kailyn) Wiersma, Beth Wiersma, Sean (Ashtynn) DeYoung, Andrea DeYoung, Chris DeYoung, Colin DeYoung, Stephen DeYoung; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ott VanAndel, Mickey VanAndel, June Klanderman; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dorothy's friend and neighbor, Debbie DeMink; and her caregivers, Julie Rockwell and Bev Fraaza. Services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 6 at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd with Pastor Fred S. DeYoung officiating. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday, September 5 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private family interment will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Second Christian Reformed Church Missions.
