Donald Joseph Schulz, age 86, died peacefully at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 10, 2021. He was born and raised in Inkster, Michigan by his parents Louis and Anna Schulz and was preceded in death by them and his sister, Barbara (Hein). Don graduated from Inkster High School and then spent two years in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he married his high school sweetheart Bobbie Adams in 1959 and then earned a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, Don began work for Dupont in Hibbing, Minnesota, then returned to Michigan joining Unitec Construction in Ann Arbor and later the Garrison Company in Farmington Hills. He then ventured out with Bobbie at his side, starting Rand Construction Engineering in Brighton. Over the years Rand earned many awards and accolades for the dozens of buildings they designed and constructed which now dot southeastern Michigan. In 2002 he would retire from running the day-to-day operations of Rand, having built the company from a 2-person office to 18 full time employees. Don was a Deacon and Elder for the Ann Arbor Church of Christ, a current member of the Dexter Church of Christ and carried a strong love for his Lord. Don had two children, Susan, and Joseph. Susan preceded Don's passing in 1997. Don leaves behind his wife Bobbie of 62 years, his brother Gerald (Janice), his son Joseph (Kelly) and his two grandsons Ryan and Alec. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Dexter Church of Christ, 8700 Jackson Road, Dexter, MI 48130. There will be a family graveside service at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor on Friday January 7, 2022 followed by a public reception at Barton Hills Country Club at 3pm for those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate the life or a remarkable and loving man, Donald Schulz.
