Don Burd, age 88, of Plainwell passed away on June 26, 2018 at Bronson Hospital. Don was born on July 19, 1929 to Merrill & Louise (Cowels) Burd. Visit with his family and friends on Friday, June 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the McCowen & Secord Family Funeral Home Marshall & Gren Chapel; 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at mountain home cemetery in Otsego. Don’s family includes his wife of 68 years, Esther; his children: Kathy, Alan (Carol) and Melvin (Lori) ; his sisters Elizabeth and Carol (Richard), brother-in-law Herb and sisters-in-law Reva and Marilyn his grandchildren: Paula, Tonia, Tracy and Tammy; eight great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don worked at Peter Eckrich and Sons for 40 years. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish. He traveled to Canada with friends on fishing trips and in later years he took up golf which he loved. He was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything.
