Donald "Bill" Ester

Passed away peacefully (despite Hurricane Irma) in Naples, FL on September 11, 2017 with his wife Shirley and his dog Sadie by his side. Bill was born May 28, 1929 in Erie, PA. After graduating from Cathedral Prep and Grove City College, Bill went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. After serving his country, he was in the insurance and automotive business in Pittsburgh and then moved his family to Kalamazoo, MI where he was a successful business owner of Portage City Body Shop. Bill was a very generous man volunteering with Rotary International, Ambucs, and many community projects. He also continued to pursue his lifelong passion for sailing. Bill and Shirley moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement years as active members of Foxfire Golf and Country Club. He served six years on the Board of Directors and two years as President. Survived by the love of his life Shirley Sickles, his children Donald Ester Jr., Sheri Fries, and Susan Hanson(Bradley) and granddaughters Andrea O'Brien(Justin), Lezlee Hanson, and Lilly Fries. Celebration of Life to be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 4pm at Foxfire Golf and Country Club in Naples.
