Dirk Edward 2/25/1945 - 2/9/2022 Paw Paw Dirk Edward Wellington, 76, of Paw Paw, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He was born February 25, 1945 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Budd Wellington and Lucille (Terpstra) Wellington. Dirk served in the Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ozbourn, DD-846. He was united in marriage to Diane Taylor February 5, 1972, and shortly thereafter moved to Paw Paw where they raised their family. Dirk was employed at Palisades Nuclear Plant for over 40 years. His family was his pride and joy. He adored time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dirk enjoyed supporting them at their many school and sporting events over the years. He also enjoyed traveling with Diane, and listening to bluegrass music. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed tinkering in his barn to pass time. He is survived by his wife Diane, three daughters, Nicole (Kristopher) Nelson, Angela (Erik) Hindenach and Heather (Ryan) Horvath; five grandchildren, Emily Nelson, Katelyn Nelson, Julia Hindenach, Jakob Hindenach and Addison Horvath; mother in law, Patricia Taylor; brother, Darwin (Mary) Wellington; two sisters, Loretta VanEngen and Dorothy Weaver, his sister in law, Carol (Gary) Gray and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 15, 2022, beginning at 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. The family requests those in attendance to please wear a face mask due to the current health conditions. Mass of Christian burial will follow at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center, 200 North Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, or to Hope Lodge, 129 Jefferson Avenue S.E.
