Dian Cooper

Dian Kay Cooper, 83, of Comstock, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born September 8, 1937 to Kenneth and Vera (Sauers) Williams in South Haven. Dian graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1955. She later worked for Comstock Public School for 31 years before her retirement in 2002. Dian adored being a grandmother and attending all of her grandson's sporting events and rarely missed a game. She also enjoyed watching University of Michigan football, Detroit Tigers baseball, being at the beach, and playing Keno. Dian loved a cold Miller Lite with her many friends. She had many collections (Dickens Villages, Hummel plates and beach glass) but the collection that meant the most was her collection of close friends that she considered family. "The Girls" would meet every Friday for breakfast in Kalamazoo and she lunched with high school classmates every month in South Haven. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother – Thomas "Tucker" Williams. Dian is survived by her son – Richard (Lisa) Cooper of South Haven; grandchildren – Lucas Cooper of South Haven and Casey Cooper of the United States Navy currently stationed in Gulfport, Mississippi; step-sons – Mark (Susan) Cooper of Lansing and Matt (Laurie) Cooper of Paw Paw; sister-in-law – Sally Williams; niece – Lisa (Dan) Dwyer of Wyoming, Michigan; nephew – Tom (Kristin) Williams of South Haven. Per Dian's wishes there will be no service. Contributions may be made in Dian's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
