Derwyn C. Crabb of Portage, Michigan formerly of Owosso, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. He was 88 years old. Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso, Michigan, with Pastor Marlene Webster officiating. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 8pm. Derwyn was born May 26, 1929 in St Johns, Michigan. He was the son of Clyde and Helen (Walker) Crabb. He graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1949 and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree from Michigan State University. Derwyn proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired after 22 year of service as a Lt. Colonel. His years in the military took Derwyn and his family to Turkey, Taiwan, Japan, Virginia and Nebraska. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. While stationed in Nebraska he flew with the Strategic Air Command serving as the Communications Officer with Operation Looking Glass. Following his retirement from military service Derwyn spent 22 years as the owner and operator of Crabb Realty. Derwyn married the love of his life, Dorothy Davis, in Owosso on December 30, 1951. He was a devoted husband for 66 years and a wonderful father to his three daughters. Derwyn's life long passion was genealogy, a hobby he began in 1968 and continued until his death. He was able to construct family history back to the early 1600s. Derwyn is survived by his wife Dorothy; daughters Susan Wilson, Linda (Tim) Ahern and Dr. Ann Crabb; grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Wilson, Brandy Wilson and Connor Ahern; 6 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Delmar (Donna) Davis; Sister-in Law Ethel Davis; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He was predeceased in death by his parents and brother Robert Crabb. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Nelson-House Funeral Home
