Wilson, David E. Portage David passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 65 on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Doyle E. Wilson, M.D. and Shirlee Wilson. David was an adventurer. Following graduation from Portage Northern High School and Michigan State University, he taught high school Biology and Chemistry at the International School of Brussels, Belgium. The teaching experience afforded him the opportunity to mountain climb in Wales, visit Russia, Egypt and most of the countries in between. On July 9, 1977, David married his first love, Kandace Harvey, and together they enjoyed time in Europe before returning to the United States in 1979. David worked in the pharmaceutical industry which took the family from Toledo and Dublin, OH, to St. Charles, IL. In 1997, David and Kandace returned to Kalamazoo to be near family. From that time until his death, David and Kandace split their time between Kalamazoo and their cabin in Ohio, where peace and tranquility were the order of the day. David was pre-deceased by his son Ryan, his parents Doyle and Shirlee Wilson, and his in-laws Richard and Beverly Harvey. Surviving are his wife of forty years, Kandace, his best friend and son, Donovan and his fiancee Jessica Klok, his three siblings Victoria(Michael)Swenson, Elizabeth(Duane)Klas and Paul(Susan)Wilson. His nieces and nephews were dear to him, Rachel and Jonathan & Ava Yorkowitz, Katie and Andrew Herrema & Kayla, Jaden, Will & Owen Herrema, Ben and Kristin & Asher Klas, John Klas, Amy Klas, & Heidi Klas, Daniel and Julia & Deacon & Micah Wilson, Colin and Ariana & Liam Wilson, and Audrey Wilson. The memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Bible Church, 4100 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan. There will be a visitation with the family preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. Contributions in David's memory may be directed to the Ceramics Department of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts at 314 South Park Street, Kal., MI 49007, or to www.RegulateMI.org.
