David Smith

David Loomis Smith, aged 65, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. He graduated from Loy Norrix High School and Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Education degree. David taught for 30 years at Vicksburg Community Schools, starting as a middle school science teacher and later teaching english and creative writing at the high school. He had a great love of poetry, literature, music, boating, camping, and golfing.

He is survived by his father, Richard Smith; sister, Jennifer Smith-Goy; brothers, Nathan Smith and Matthew Smith; and nieces and nephews Elliot, Hannah, Kathryn, Kara, Jordan, Lindsay, Tiffany, Evan, Melanie, Aliey, and Walter. He is preceded in death by his brother, Todd Smith, and mother, Judith Smith. The family will be holding a private memorial at a later date.
